The Touring Chios Club revives the New Year's Ships custom every year, in collaboration with Chios Municipality. Groups of people from every Chios town settlement make imitations of merchant and war ships with great care. The size has to be about 5.5 meters and not more, according to the rules. The most important for the crew is the participation to this event and not the pecuniary reward that has been established for the best effort and presentation. The best ship to be awarded is a result both of the prefecture and the praises.
