Nea Moni is the perfect place to sit and contemplate the beauty of the monstery buildings nestled among the surrounding mountains with the tall cypress trees arranged poetically so that their color changes from green to black as the sun moves across the sky. The interior of the church is marvelous as it seems to envelope you in its own architectural richness and in its sometimes haunting history. I even got to talk to an elderly nun who gave me a paper icon. I feel that my visit to Nea Moni was one of the most spiritually enriching experiences of my life.
